Unemployment security

You can join an entrepreneurs’ unemployment fund if you are an entrepreneur, live permanently in Finland and have a pension insurance (YEL, MYEL, TyEL) based on an annual income of at least 12,564 euros (limit for 2017).

If you are a member of an employees’ unemployment fund, you can avoid a break in your unemployment coverage by transferring to a fund intended for entrepreneurs within three months of starting your business.

Unemployment fund membership is voluntary.
