The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment together with the Association of Finnish Municipalities have prepared a financial model for supporting sole traders during the coronavirus situation. Sole traders may apply for funding from the municipalities to help them with difficulties resulting from the coronavirus. In order to receive the aid, the entrepreneur must be able to demonstrate that their business operation was profitable before the disruption caused by the pandemic. According to plans, the amount of aid would be constant, and it could be used for all costs arising from business operations, particularly fixed business-related costs such as rent. The aim is to begin accepting applications once the details of the model and its implementation have been resolved.
A temporary extension of unemployment security is also being prepared, which would allow sole traders to receive unemployment compensation on certain terms.
More information about these and other forms of aid being prepared will be provided as soon as the details have been worked out and applications are accepted. Hopefully this will happen as soon as possible!
